- I've got what seems a rather strange problem with InterSLIP and/or a
- USR Sportster 28.8 modem for the mac. I set up a University of Chicago
- version of InterSLIP on a faculty member's computer on Friday. Worked
- fine. No problems. He managed to use it for Netscape and Eudora once. He
- shut down the computer and turned the modem off. He says the next time he
- tried using it he got the "can't find modem - check power or cable"
- message when he tried dialing in. His computer is a Mac IIcx, modem on
- the modem port.
- I've tried the modem with InterSLIP on another computer; it worked. I
- installed ZTerm and tried it on the IIcx; that worked. Then I tried the
- modem with InterSLIP on the IIcx's _printer_ port; that also worked. Is
- there any explanation of why this particular IIcx modem port is suddenly
- not cooperating with SLIP? Any suggestions? I guess I could tell him to
- use the printer port, but I'm still curious.
